Traders' Sampuran Kranthi Rath Yatra reaches Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 14: Sampuran Kranthi Rath Yatra, an initiative of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) against FDI in retail and its effects on small and medium traders, reached Jammu. The Kranti Rath which left Delhi on 15 September has covered more than 24 states before reaching Jammu meet chambers of Traders Federation Jammu. Varinder Singh Walia said traders across the nation are up in arms against faulty government policies that favor deep pocket giants over small retailers. He added that there is a strong resentment amongst trading community against the current policies of the government and if corrective measures are not taken, ramifications would be there to be seen for all. Neeraj Anand, President Chambers Traders Federation and National Vice President, CAIT said that traders are facing a double whammy, where adverse socio political conditions have restricted growth of trade and faulty decision to follow to allow Toll Tax on Goods has shifted balance of trade in favor of neighboring states. Neeraj Anand said that a delegation of Jammu traders will participate in the protest rally at Delhi on 19th December to mark culmination of Rath Yatra. He added that their main issue remains opposing giant traders like Walmart- Flipkart, demanding a fair regulatory policy, status and benefits of tax collector for traders, review of all trade related laws and easily availability of loans. It is the first time post India Independence that traders compelled by changing Business environment were forced to undertake such a Rath yatra against any government claimed Neeraj Anand. |
