Mehbooba Mufti hell bent to destroy PDP by issuing controversial statements
Says her late father committed 'suicide' by aligning with BJP

Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Dec 14: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti is hell bent to destroy her own party and same gets proved every now and then from her statements.
Mehbooba also wants to prove her father Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed committed a big blunder at the fag end of his political career by deciding to join hands with Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) to form the government in the state after 2014 assembly elections.
Today speaking at a programme in Mumbai, Mehbooba said that alliance with BJP in 2014 was a suicide. By issuing such statements the PDP President is substantiating claims of her political opponents who say PDP ditched people of Kashmir by joining hands with BJP for government formation in 2014. Political parties like National Conference (NC) and Congress have been targeting the PDP-BJP coalition from day one and accusing the PDP of joining hands with a party that is labeled as a right wing Hindu party. At the time of elections PDP had claimed that it is the only party that can stop BJP from entering Jammu & Kashmir.
The PDP President instead of setting the matters right in her own party is issuing statements that are all set to upset the bogey of the party in the next assembly elections. Mehbooba seems to be least bothered about the fact that many of her party colleagues have deserted the party and joined some other political outfit.
By issuing a statement that aligning with BJP was a suicide the PDP President wants to prove to the world that the decision taken by her late father was not a mistake but a blunder. It took more than two months for Mufti to take a decision about the formation of government and when the decision is suicide then how people believe that PDP would take correct decisions in future. With party leaders like Imran Raza Ansari, Haseeb Drabu, Abid Hussain Ansari, Mohammad Abbas Wani and Raja Aijaz Ali already leaving the party it would be difficult for Mehbooba to regroup and take the party forward. Had Muzaffar Hussain Beigh not been appointed as Patron of the party he too would have left and joined Sajad Lone led proposed third front.
Given the present scenario it is safe to say that PDP that had come up as an alternative to NC in Jammu & Kashmir is falling apart like a pack of nine pins. The party would face an uphill task in the next assembly elections and it would be difficult for it to pull through.
The today's statement of Mehbooba is being seen as a move to motivate leaders of parties like NC and Congress to forge a pre-poll alliance in the state in view of next assembly elections. Since NC has already said that it would go alone in the next assembly elections there are bleak chances that there would be any pre-poll alliance for the next assembly elections of Jammu & Kashmir.
