Early Times Report

RAMBAN, Dec 17: Contrary to the tall claims, the construction companies are making life of people difficult day after day in Ramban.
One such glaring example is the people of Karol who are suffering from last one year. They have lost their only source to earn their beard and butter due to the construction of a bridge under four lane projects.
The effected people said that they earned their livelihood from flour mills but due to the demolishing of natural water source for the construction of bridge by the GAMMON Company, their sources also destroyed.
The concerned Construction Company and administration failed to provide any type of compensation to the people and left them to fend on their own.
The people demanded that immediate compensation should be provided to them by the construction company besides restoration of water source so that they can again start their work.
Ghulam Mohammad Wani who is also suffering from the same pain said that he is facing a loss of Rs 1.5 lacs monthly due to the cutting of water sources.
He further said that besides the water flour mill he is also having a fish pound besides vegetable farming.
"Many times we approached to the concern administration, but nothing has been done by both the authorities" he added.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat said that the administration has already directed the concern construction agency to restore the water supply to the effected 3 water flour mills.
