Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Jan 4: The local villagers and school students from Rathian (Battal?Balian) today held protest and blocked Udhampur to Battal Balian road against the increasing pollution level in the area by Red category industrial units.
The people assembled on the main road near Industrial complex and started protest demonstration against the District Administration and District Industries department.
They alleged that several cement and pesticide units established in this area are creating massive pollution.
Protesting people said that the district Udhampur administration had committed before taking over this land for the?development of the area that the locals will be benefitted in a big way but people have started suffering badly.
A population of about 15,000 souls has been left to suffer. 15 Red category units have been established which have created huge pollution. There is no proper check by SPCB authorities. There are three schools near the area and the District Administration has not taken care of the health condition of children and other people.
