Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Jan 10: A Junior Engineer of Education Department in Tehsil Sunderbani of District Rajouri has been openly violating school building plans approved under Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan in collusion with contractors in lieu of heavy commission.
Sources told Early Times that the Government allotted school buildings consisting of three rooms set under SSA at the cost of approximately Rs 13 lakh but Junior Engineer in connivance with Village Level Committee got approved double storey building against the norms.
"In order to give benefit to contractor, he allowed to get constructed double story building consist of two rooms on ground level and the third one over it just to reduce the cost of construction but on paper the cost is showed as per prescribed by government," said sources.
Sources said that the fraud being done by the JE was conveyed to the Chief Education Officer Rajouri but no action was taken indicating that the involvement of senior officers can't be ruled out.
