Face book of 'Dream Team' of Modi Government
Jamwal Mahadeep Singh1/12/2019 10:13:22 PM
Let us flash back to the words of Modi jee before 2014 that country needs a 'dream team' over 'dirty team' (referred to UPA) and asked people to choose a government and a leader who has a vision (the leader in reference was Modi jee himself as nominated PM candidate by BJP - hence asking for visionary leader tantamount to self praise no recommendation) for the future. Now when the BJP government concluding its tenure and preparing for 2019 elections, it is time to flash back about the performance of this self declared 'dream team' that has proved more a 'dirty team'. Let us have a slight look into the dream team of Modi jee formulated to run the country. Twenty-four of the Union cabinet ministers (31%) of dream team have criminal cases registered against them. 14 of these ministers, that is 18%, have declared serious criminal cases related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, rape, bribery and crimes against women (Source: Association for Democratic Reforms - 'ADR' & National Election Watch - 'NEW'). The dream team also includes defeated and rejected players as thruster upon the people. More so the dream team termed as poor man's government has 72 of the 78 cabinet ministers as crorepatis. The education standard in respect of dream team associates with portfolio at the initial stage goes as: Minister with 'Science and technology' with medical degree, minister with Social Justice and Empowerment just simple BA. Mines, Steel, Labor and Employment simply matriculate, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution simple 12th class, Women and Child Development simple 12th, Heavy Industry and Public Enterprise simple graduation, Water Resources and Ganga Rejuvination just sixth class, Rural Development Minister, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation BA, Chemicals and Fertilizers BA, Civil Aviation matriculate, Ministry of Agriculture BA, Social Justice & Empowerment BA, Culture and Tourism BA. What a wonderful combination of criminals, crorepatis and base level educated in a dream team. The dream team was to transform the commitments, slogans and dreams sold out to voters in 2014 by BJP and its nominated PM Mr. Modi jee.
It is not justified to restrict the script within lines of failures of Modi government only, when it has some positive notes also on its side. These are the positive notes that Modi and his BJP coterie is always propagating to woo the voters for scaling the great 'Mahayudh' of election in 2019. Apart from its media team, so many biased channels are over busy 24 by 7 to hype the image of Modi and his government but least served in the public domain is the dark side of the same coin, hence as a freelance writer, it is bestowed upon me to apprise the readers concerning the other side of this dream team's performance. A cursory look into various aspects concerning average man during these years of dream team apprises us that India had 30% of its population living below poverty line. India stands at number 64 in the list of 189 poorest countries in 2016. India ranked 100 of the 119 countries in 2016 in Global Hunger Index. There are 1.77 million homeless people in India in 2017. On employment front more than 30% of India's youth not in employment, according to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) report 2017. India has over 4 lakh beggars that include 2.2 lakh males and 1.91 lakh females. Registration of 38,947 cases of rape in 2016, and highest incidents of sexual violence, lack of access to justice in rape cases, child marriage, female feticide and human trafficking placed India as world's most dangerous country for women in a report by Thomson Reuters Foundation in July 2018. More so getting a letter from eight U.S. Senators and 26 members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2016, raising grave concerns about the increasing intolerance and violence.
To make the script more curious, some much talked welfare schemes launched by Modi led BJP government deserve to be mentioned that are just rebranded and rechristened one, although these stands as menu on recipe of discussions now even at the most illiterate section of the society. At ground level the net results of these schemes is quite far away from the hype created. Some of them that resonate from treasury benches and from biased media and are now being propagation in view of 2019 elections are: Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), launched in 2014, with certain more benefits added to already in force scheme as: Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (BSBDA) a no-minimum-balance service with all facilities of a normal banking account. All accounts opened prior to 28 August 2014, under BSBDA, have all become PMJDY accounts. It's only a change of nomenclature. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana (BBBPY), launched in January 2015, is a consolidation of old programmes scattered across schemes and ministries under the UPA government. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is restructured form of already in existence of Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, a name adopted for Total Sanitation Campaign in 2012 that in it was a new branding to Central Rural Sanitation Programme - launched by the Congress in 1986. This is much talked scheme that is a material for photo shows only. Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) admitted in parliamentary standing committee report, that it is Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) scheme rechristened. The UPA's Rajiv Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana was "subsumed" under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, and stand admitted by Government of India, and Ministry of Power in 2015. NDA's Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been formulated by amalgamating already ongoing schemes viz. Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) of Department of Land Resources and the On Farm Water Management (OFWM) of Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DAC). Soil Health Card scheme is already existing National Project on Management of Soil Health and Fertility. Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana is clubbing of many schemes of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and other programmes. Modi government folded Congress's Swavalamban Yojana, a pension scheme for unorganized sector workers, launched in 2010, under its Atal Pension Yojana. Same applies on Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojna (PMUY), where under free LPG cylinders distributed at very large scale. Under the scheme, the government provides a subsidy of Rs 1,600 to government-owned oil manufacturing companies (actual beneficiary) for every free LPG gas connection installation. A Comptroller and Auditor General's report speaks the number of cylinders used on average had come down to 5.6 and it badly expose the scheme as to its unplanned launching. Consumers of LPG cylinders under this scheme are declining day-to-day after first cylinder exhausts. While the number of LPG connections across India has increased by an impressive 16.26% since the scheme was launched, the use of gas cylinders increased by only 9.83%. A minute analysis of all these schemes leads to confirmation that these after cosmetic treatment are doled out into the public domain and no where speaks of any vision of the dream team of BJP dispensation.
Concluding on the above lines, it is not difficult to arrive at conclusion that Modi team nowhere appear to be a 'dream team' and can be easily placed as 'dirty team' for the same reasons envisioned by Modi je in 2013 for UPA-II and it has only pinned down sweet dreams in the minds of common man. Now the new hopes are at sale and promise of their transformation into reality is being projected as year 2022 (this is vision of dream team), forgetting that they have to get through a tunnel of 2019 elections to continue further. We perceive on the strength that BJP has won just 4 of 23 Lok Sabha by polls since 2014, its slogan of 'Saab ka Sath Sab Ka Vikas' has dashed to the ground. The tagline for 2019 elections "saaf niyat, sahi vikas" and slogans "2019 mein phir ek baar, modi sarkar" on the pattern of 2014 slogan 'ab ki baar modi sarkar' treading on the path of 2004 slogan 'India Shining', when India has dropped to number 42 in 2018 from 27 in 2014 in Global democracy index.
