Jammu hospitals: Where stray canines rule the roost
1/15/2019 10:34:06 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 15: Stray dogs have wreaked havoc in the winter capital and its hospitals including Govern-ment Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Chest and Diseases Hospital and SMGS Hospital.
Stray dogs can be seen moving in and around the emergency block and the recovery ward. Earlier, the hospitals were in news for hosting dogs in emergency wards as well.
Eyewitnesses said that the dogs not only roam around freely throughout the day but also spread litter and secrete in and around the recovery ward. Regular visitors to the GMC&H Jammu premises complain that on a number of occasions the issue was taken up with the authorities repeatedly without results.
The situation gets grim during evenings and it becomes difficult for the patients and attendants to shoo away the dogs.
A hospital employee said the people have been requested time and again not to throw leftover food in the hospital premises. "The leftover food attracts dogs," he said adding even educated people have been seen throwing leftover food inside the wards.
He has a word of advice for the people. "Please eat the food in the canteen and refrain from polluting the hospital," he said.
