JAMMU, Jan 21: A delegation of All India Jat Maha Sabha led by its President Choudhary Man Mohan Singh, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The delegation requested Governor for releasing the remaining amount of one time settlement package announced under Prime Minister's Development Package in 2014 as compensation in favour of displaced families of 1947, 1965 and 1971; transferring ownership rights of custodian land; area within 8 Km of International Border be incorporated in the list of Backward area; enhance compensation amount in favour of NoK of those who lose their lives or suffer disabilities due to cross border firing; special recruitment drive for youth of the border area in Police, Army, CRPF and other Paramilitary Forces; allotment of 5 marlas of plots at safer places for families living in disturbed areas along Border.
; shifting of fencing at Border to Zero Line and compensation to families who are unable to cultivate their lands due to regular cross border firing.
Governor assured the delegation due consideration of their demands.
Ch. Yudhvir Singh; Ch. Rakesh Taikat; Ch. Dharmendar Singh were among those present in the meeting.
