Administration failed to clear snow from Kupwara villages
1/23/2019 11:13:18 PM

Early Times Report

KUPWARA, Jan 23: Vehicular connectivity in several Kupwara areas remained affected for the third consecutive day Wednesday, with concerned administrations miserably failing to clear snow from main roads.
The district administration has claimed that they cleared snow from all roads, but the villagers alleged that they were left out.
Residents of several villages of North Kashmir's Kupwara district including Trumnad, Budnambal, Chokibal, Kachama, Afan Lolab and Moori Kalaroos complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from main roads, let alone interiors. This has badly affected movement of vehicles and pedestrians, they said.
"Instead of snow clearance machines, JCB were pressed into service at some places, leading to more problems.
The JCB'S cleared little snow and instead left behind slippery patches and potholes leading to accidents," said residents of Lolab.
Residents of Kralpora Villages said that from the day it started snowing the students of the village were unable to go to tuitions.
"The road is still closed as it is covered with snow and if there is any contingency we cannot even hire a vehicle," said another resident, adding that the concerned department owes an explanation to the people of the village.
Though power supply in Kupwara town has been restored, most of the villages in the district are reeling under darkness for the past three days. Scores of areas are also suffering from water scarcity.
It's pertain to mention here that roads to boarder towns of Karnah, Keren and Machil areas with district headquarters have been closed form last 3 weeks, days before was open for one-day traffic on bothsides of Karnah-Kupwara.
