Yousuf Shah Chak play showcased at Abhinav Theatre

Jammu, Jan 24: in first of its kind, Yousuf Shah Chak play was showcased by National Band Theatre Wathora at Abhinav Theatre, sponsored by Ministry of Culture Government of India on Thursday. The play was written by National Awarded winner, Dr. Sohan Koul, Director Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat.
Khwaja Farooq Renzu, Abdal Mehjoor, Hasrat Gadda, Mohammed Amin, Dr Avinder Singh were the chief guest of the occasion. The programme was inaugurated by Khwaja Farooq Renzu and other dignitaries'. The artists of event included people from all the age groups. The highlight of the play was local instrument played by the professional people.
On the participants said that we are being performing such kind of play across the country but it was the first time that we performed in the city of temples, Jammu. It was quite fun and excited to showcase our play in the city. Further, Yousuf Shah Chak, a historical play is the best preservation and promotion of our Kashmir art and culture.
Sohan Koul said that Yousuf Shah Chak is a vibrant chapter of Kashmir history. The play speaks volumes regarding socio political scenario of that era, when Mughal's took over Kashmir. The play is blend of romance and conflict blend valor and courage. He was a music lover, a brave fighter. Later he was tricked, got invited to Delhi and never came back.
"Further, Habba Khatoon was the nightingale of Kashmir was his queen. The play is the reflection of our past and socio culture tradition. Also it is a passage, which communicates the toughest idiom of Kashmir politics", he added.
The artists who participated in the event were, Mudasir Ahmad played role of Yousuf Shah Chak, Amreena played the role of Habba Khatoon, Nazir Ahmad, Younis Majid Rather, Mushtaq Ahmad, Riyaz Ahmad, Irshad Majid, Amir Ahmad, Younus Ahmad, Johan Mohd, Mehraj U Din, Muzafar Ahmad, Mohd Hashim, Ab Hamid, Fayaz Ahmad Gulzar Sheikh, Gulzar Ganaie, Gh Nabi Dar, Hafizullah, Zakir Ahmad, Mohammed Maqbool.
