Jammu, Jan 29: With much publicity and fanfare, former Deputy Chief Minister and ex-MLA Gandhi Nagar claimed to start developmental project in his assembly segment. Ironically major portion of Gandhi Nagar assembly segment is facing shortage of drinking water but Kavinder Gupta as MLA had failed to minimize this problem.
After dissolution of the Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta is now inaugurating or laying foundation stones of the various projects to befool the people.
Residents of Gandhi Nagar assembly segment were asking the question what Kavinder Gupta had done during his three and half year tenure as MLA of this prestigious assembly constituency? Instead of addressing day today problems of the people, Gupta was more worried about his protocol and cavalcade. Although blacktapping of some roads has been done, roads in the interiors are in worst condition due to casual approach of the former MLA.
Today Gupta started work on laying pipes of water supply scheme at sector 3,ward number 56 of Gangyal but for the last nearly four years residents of this areas are facing shortage of drinking water but during his tenure as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly as well as Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta had miserable failed to solve this problem but after losing power he has started work on the project which is unlikely to complete in the stipulate time.
BJP's official handout also mentioned that it is a dream project for the residents and after completion of work the people of whole of the Ekta Vihar and adjoining areas shall be supplied with the required water supply. This was the long pending demand of the area and this project is being executed by the P.H.E department with an estimated cost of 24 Lacs.
On the occasion Gupta said the directions have already been passed to the concerned for identification of habitations where there is shortage of water and also they were asked to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) where either the Over head Tanks or the Bore wells are required and submit the same so that the matter is taken up with the Government for accord of necessary arrangement of funds.
