13 Hajin wards get erratic electric supply
1/30/2019 11:11:22 PM

Early Times Report

BANDIPORA, Jan 30: Being a hyper sensitive area, almost 13 wards of Hajin and its adjoining areas face tough curtailment of electricity during these harsh winters and PDD is least bothered to solve the problem of huge populace.
According to sources, electricity is a basic need for leading a normal life but unfortunately that is missing in various rural areas of Bandipora district. The electricity is disrupted for hours despite of paying a monthly power tariff on regular basis, and it is hard to believe that power supply lines are tied to trees at various places, and that poses a serious danger to humans and livestock, said sources.
Nisar-ul Karim, a local resident of Hajin told early times that, Hajin being a hyper sensitive area, we get huge curtailment of electricity during this winter, our area is a land of scholars and writers, but our village is without electricity. Despite having a receiving station here, we hardly get electricity for few hours, adding their village is non metered area and we are paying monthly tariffs of about Rs 375/ per month, said a local resident, said local resident.
He said that this is the peak time when children are preparing for NEET/JEE Mains, but unfortunately power is playing hide and seek and during night hours and the department concerned is least bothered to solve their problems.
However a group of locals said that during night hours, the voltage remains so low that it fails to illuminate even a small room. We are having no choice but to take dinner in candlelight.
"We fail to understand that why there is mismanagement in the PDD, who could not restore the electricity according to their schedule, yesterday we staged a protest against the department concerned, but they are still in a deep slumber, locals informed. A group of students complained that power is playing hide and seek and during night hours, the supply went off for hours. They said they cannot study till late hours as some competitive exams are very near and unscheduled curtailment have frustrated them.
Meanwhile a senior PDD official denied that the electricity wires are tied with trees, by the way if there was anything like that, we will solve it by tomorrow. The official said that, in the coming days, we will reschedule the power curtailment, and there will be no compliant of it in future.
