JKAACL holds Multilingual Mushaira

JAMMU, Jan 30: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, R S Pura organized a Multilingual Mushaira at GDC R S Pura.
Poets of Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi languages recited their poetry with the themes of patriotism. S. Ajit Singh Mastana, a prominent Punjabi Ghazal writer presided over the programme. Prof Daleep Raina, I/ C Principal GDC, R S Pura was the chief guest and Prof. Nirmal Vinod, well known writer of Hindi, Dogri and Punjabi was the guest of honour on this occasion. S. Popinder Singh, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Department of Chemistry shared the dais.
The writers who participated in the Mushaira included Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Sonia Upadhaya, (Hindi), Gyaneshwar Sharma, Sushil Begana, Ashok Kumar and Sunita Bhadwal (Dogri) and Joginder Singh Paandhi, Ajit Singh Mastana, Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav and Jang S. Verman (Punjabi). Six young students of GDC, R S Pura also recited their poetry in the Mushiara.
Earlier, Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL welcomed the guests. In his address he gave the brief of organizing the literary event at GDC R S Pura. He said the Cultural Academy has been trying to explore the new areas and talent in the remote areas along with main centres of art and culture. He added that the efforts of the Academy are to connect the youth with their traditional roots and documenting the cultural heritage of the region. He gave the details of Academy's future literary and other events.
In his presidential address S. Ajit Singh Mastana appreciated the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organizing such literary event in the remote areas and participation of the students along with established poets of various languages of the region for presenting patriotic poetry in connection with Republic Day Celebrations. He said that this step would explore the possibilities in the remote areas like R S Pura and the students hailing from border belt areas studying there.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by programme coordinator Dr. Anuradha Sharma, HoD Punjabi, GDC, R S Pura. Vote of Thanks was extended by Dr. Namrita Singh, HoD Computer Science.
