Er Rasheed 'misusing' freedom of speech
'Appeases Pak stooges by disrespecting Governor's office'
1/31/2019 11:28:10 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 31: Former MLA with separatist leanings Er Rasheed threatening that he would welcome the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with black flags during his scheduled visit to the state on February 3 has drawn flak.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that since the day Assembly has been dissolved, Er Rasheed has been behaving like a "separatist." "He (Er Rasheed) has been issuing provocative statements aimed at instigating people. He is leaving no opportunity to appease the Pakistani agents and the separatists active in the Valley. It seems he is working on the instructions he is getting from the people sitting across the Line of Control (LoC),"the analyst said.
On Wednesday Rasheed said, "It is shameful that New Delhi is misusing Governor's office and position to loot the resources of the state and is eying on Sawalkote, Kirthai-I and Kirthai-II projects having a capacity of 3200 MW."
He said that his would party would receive PM Narendra Modi with black flags in Srinagar to protest "colonial mindset" of New Delhi and the "loot of the state's resources."
It may be recalled that sleuths of the National Investigating Agency had questioned Rasheed in the year 2017 in connection with the terror funding case in New Delhi. After he was questioned by the NIA he went it to oblivion and maintained silence for a long time. However, he has become active again and leaves no chance to criticize the policies of the central government. "The Governor's administration should take a note of the statements being issued by Rasheed and it should ascertain on whose tunes Rasheed is dancing," the analyst said.
A politician said that his statement that he would welcome the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with black flags in Srinagar is aimed at appeasing the Pakistan stooges and the people sitting in PoK. "He wants to tell them that he is pursuing their agenda and they need not to worry. Prime Minister Modi is visiting J&K to inaugurate the vital projects but this former legislator wants to welcome him with black flags. It's unacceptable," the politician added.
He said that leaving the political ideologies aside everyone is duty bound to respect the office of the Prime Minister. "Central and the state government should take a strong note of the utterances being made by this former legislator and he should not be allowed to misuse the provision of freedom of the speech. If he is so fascinated by the idea of separatism and Pakistan he should join the separatist camp and leave the mainstream politics. He needs to be reminded that only those people can become the legislators who have faith in India and its democracy. He has drawn lakhs of rupees as salary during his two time stint as a MLA. He has no problem with Indian currency. He needs to mend his ways if he wants to remain in the mainstream," the politician said. "Centre needs to reframe its Kashmir policy and focus on nationalist people in Kashmir rather than encouraging the anti-national elements, who want to keep Pakistan happy," he added.
