SRINAGAR, Jan 31: Nothing seems to be going right for Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in the state with the leaders indulged in blaming each other even on trivial issues.
A high voltage drama was witnessed here today as two BJP leaders of Kashmir valley fought it out on an issue that could have been solved easily. Although, the issue was a minor issue it turned out to be a big controversy with the BJP leaders hurling choicest of invectives on each other.
BJP Vice President, Avinash Rai Khanna was supposed to address a press conference here at the Kongposh hotel located near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC). BJP's local leader Ali Mohammad was asked by the other party leaders to go to Srinagar airport and receive Khanna at the airport. Ali was told that the press conference would be jointly addressed by Khanna, Sofi Yusuf and him. Following the directions, Ali went to the airport in order to receive the BJP Vice President. Owing to the inclement weather the flight carrying Khanna could not land at the Srinagar airport and his programme was cancelled.
Ali had expected that he would reach the Kongposh hotel and address the press conference along with Yusuf. However, his hopes were dashed as Yusuf addressed the press conference in his absence. Ali entered into heated argument with Yusuf about the holding of press conference as soon as he reached the venue and said that he has been cheated.
All this happened in presence of media persons who had arrived there to cover the press conference. Both Ali and Yusuf raised serious allegations against each other and also hurled choicest of invectives on one another. They raised allegations against each other and accused one another of holding on to the chair.
Sources told Early Times that since there are multiple centre heads in the BJP the verbal scuffle between Ali and Yusuf is nothing new. They said that everyone in the BJP thinks and behaves as if he or she is a leader and the others are sub-servant to him or her. They said that there is no accountability in the party and there is mess all around.
"The problem in BJP is that there is no worker or activist, but there are leaders and only leaders. The leaders spill beans against each other on regular basis in closed door and sometimes it comes in front of the media. The national leadership seems to be least bothered about this whole issue," said sources.
Sources said that BJP's central leadership just wants to add to the number of the party members in Jammu & Kashmir without thinking about the internal differences within the party fold. They said that internal bickering has taken a toll on party's health and same would be visible in the next Lok Sabha as well as assembly elections.
