Drubeel people stage protest against PDD | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Feb 1: The people of Durbeel area in Kishtwar District today held a protest against the Power Development Department for their failure in restoring the electricity in the area added that the department is in deep slumber as the public is badly suffering due to shortage of electricity in the area The angry people said that no repairment work has been carried since the electricity is given in the area further added that the wires are hanging with the trees as there is shortage of poles and wires. They said that the capacity of the transformer is also very low as a result of which the villagers had to bear the burnt of low voltage of electricity which directly make impact on the studies of their children during night as nothing was visible due to low voltage condition. They said that more than 250 connections are given out of the 63KVA transformer which is very unfortunate and condemnable and said that special emphasis should be given to the snow bound area of the district, but unfortunately nobody takes care of the area which is too far-flung and under developed. "Due to heavy snowfall the wires which are weak have been broken,there is immediate requirement of repairment of the line. People demanded repairment and restoration of the electricity and water in the area" said social activist Thakur Puran Chand. "We are thankful to PHE employee Prem Nath, Indian army men from 11 RR and group of local youths who after traveling several Kilometres on foot in 4-5 feet snow and partially restore the water supply by repairing the frozen water supply to the villages having population of around 5000 souls" said Thakur Puran Chand added that the whole population of Drubeel Panchayat is thankful to army and PHE employee for this heroic work and urged upon the authorities to encourage PHE employee Prem Nath by awarding him. |
