| Former EJAC President Qayoom Wani to contest Lok Sabha polls from Baramulla as PDP’s candidate | | | Srinagar: Abdul Qayoom Wani, former Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) president on Saturday joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu.
News Agency KNS reported that Wani was welcomed into the party by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and other senior leaders.
Mehbooba Mufti said that Qayoom Wani will contest upcoming Lok Sabha elections as PDP candidate from Baramulla.
Wani has sought voluntary retirement from the government services and resigned from the basic membership of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), said the report.
Wani said that his decision to join politics was aimed at serving the people of the state. |
