Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 6: An awareness progamme on national road safety was organsied by Air Force Wing, Jammu at their Air Force Station ( AFS ), in which defense personnel of Air Force wing were sensitized on various aspects of road safety and prevention of road accidents. While welcoming participants, Wing Commander, S. Pandita presented detailed statistics through power point presentation on road accidents in India and explained importance of celebrations of such functions. On this occasion, Dr. Daleep Pandita , Senior Divisional Manager of New India Assurance Company ( NIAC ) was Guest of Honour, who delivered special lecture on importance of vehicle insurances particularly Third Party Insurance for all type of vehicles. He stated that during last year NIA alone settled more than 35,000 motor accident claims in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, out of which about 1,000 claims were caused due to fatal accidents pertaining to bodily injuries or deaths. Dr. Pandita also deliberated upon various Third Party compensation schemes under Motor Vehicle Act and their procedures for getting compensation through Motor Accident Claims Tribunals, which are located at all District headquarters of the state. He also elaborated compensation in case of road accidents resulting due to " Hit and Run " and " No Fault Liability " causes. While presenting memento to Dr. Pandita in this function, Anand Kumar, Group Caption, AFS, Jammu thanked entire gathering and stressed on various measures to be adopted by public to ensure the safety of road users. |
