JKHB refuses to handover completed SDH building to Health Department
2/8/2019 10:17:07 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board (JKHB) is shying away from handing over the newly constructed Sub-District Hospital building to health department despite the fact that the building is completed.
It is pertinent to mention here that 50 bedded upgraded hospital building was sanctioned during the financial year, 2011-12 by then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who announced that the building would be completed within two years. Now the building is completed but the executing agency (JK Housing Board) is not handing it over to health department due to unknown reasons.
Reliable sources informed that that in the tenure of NC-Congress regime, the then government had sanctioned Upgraded Sub-district Hospital building of worth Rs 17 Crores wherein 14.38 Crores was allocated for construction of new building and remaining was allocated for renovation of existing building. "However, the new building is completed but the renovation of existing ones is nowhere in sight", said a doctor wishing anonymity.
The sources further said that the members of BJP are boasting of brining development to Jammu and Kashmir with the announcement of new projects but BJP-PDP government deliberately ignored the development of health projects during its more than three years tenure and the locals are suffering.
"It is not an isolated case, there are several projects which were sanctioned with fanfare but were still craving for government attention. 200 bedded Maternity Hospital, SDH, Bishnah and PHC, Purmandal are the examples of government apathy towards rural areas", said sources.
When contacted, Block Medical Officer, R S Pura- Satish Chander said that now the hospital building is completed by Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board and officially would be handed over to health department by end of this month.
