Embezzlement worth lakhs Unearthed in Pahari Hostel

Early Times Report
baramulla, Feb 11: A daily wager in pahari Hostel Baramulla was recently disengaged from his service for misappropriation of funds, and due to his unwanted interference, students are bearing the burnt.
According to sources, due to negligence of authorities concerned, a daily wager who was working in Phari Hostel Baramulla from more than a decade has made property worth crores, and the law enforcing agencies have failed to take any action against the accused.
In 2017-18 a complaint was also filed before the law enforcing agencies, but the daily wager was somehow given a clean chit, and with the result he continued his loot of the state exchequer until a serious compliant was made against the him, said sources.
"State budget of Phari Board of Rupees 28 lakhs was drawn in Baramulla treasury and the accused had forged signatures of Drawing and Disbursing Officer for his corrupt practices" sources said adding that Somehow officials at the Phari Board came to know about this fraud.
They said that, under the supervision of Secretary Phari Board, the embezzlement of Rs 28 lakhs was recovered, and simultaneously they disengaged the daily wager, Zulqarnian, and a treasury clerk from their services.
However sources believe that, there are some other big fishes in the same department against whom no action was taken yet.
There is information that Army had contributed furniture, books etc worth crores for the benefit of students which is also missing there, said sources.
If sources are to be believed, a computer laboratory was also established for students of the Phari Hostel, where as the authorities concerned have denied of establishment of any such Laboratory.
So for no recovery was made against persons who have falsely drawn Rs 11 lakhs on computer accessories, said sources.
After these irregularities, govt deputed a new warden but unfortunately the said daily wager got him removed just within few months only.
Irony is that, it all happens there because of his highhandedness and unwanted interference in the education of poor students, and with the result no student of 10th or 12th standard could qualify in the recent 2018-19 examinations, said sources.
Sources quoted the Vice Chairman, Phari Board, Kartar Singh as having said that, a daily wager was found involved in the embezzlement and he was disengaged from the services.
A case been transferred to Crime Department for further investigation, according to sources, Kartar Singh has said.
Meanwhile vice chairman, J&K Anti Corruption, Mohammad Shafi Bhat told early times that, this is a grave issue of corruption and the person has played with the future of students, adding the said person has also raised property worth crores in his native village Tangmarag.
He said that stern action should be initiated against the accused, how a daily wager managed to create such big properties by handful of money which he got as honorarium.
