DySP plays truant with law, dubiously fixes land deal, removed
3/3/2019 11:00:50 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 3: A DySP posted in Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range of Zone Jammu was removed from the posting he was holding following receipt of a complaint regarding his dubious role in a controversial land deal.
According to sources, the DySP had pressurized one of the SHOs under his command to side with a particular party in a contentious land deal which came to the notice of top officials adding that after the matter got exposed, the officer was shifted to another district in the same Range.
Sources said that this DySP was posted on his last assignment just a year back and was placed at a prominent posting in the JKS Range.
"The land deals in the area where the DySP was posted are considerably very high. The area falls under the upper area of the city. Recently an issue of land came before the DySP after which the DySP started to extend help to one particular party in the matter," said sources.
"In a bid to provide all possible assistance, the DySP directed his SHO to lend a helping hand to the party of his liking so that they could easily grab the piece of land which is priced at crores. Soon, work on cutting out plots from the piece of land began and subsequently they were offered for sale to the public," added sources.
Sources said that the DySP got immensely benefitted from the 'service' he provided to the owners of the land, however, much to the disappointment and misfortune of the officer, the senior cops were able to sniff the questionable role of their subordinate in fixing a land deal on his own whims and fancies.
Sources further said that the senior officers came to know about the misadventures of their junior because the person representing the side which was favoured in the matter used to visit the office of the DySP quite often.
"Keeping in view the doubtful credentials of the DySP, a secret departmental probe was conducted upon which it came to fore that the officer helped one party by ignoring the legal framework. It was found that the DySP played a vital role in brokering a deal with the other side. It was established that the settlement of all sorts in the controversial land deal were made in his office and the muscle power of the police was used extensively in fixing the same," said sources.
