Land grabbers not let RDD to initiate Panchayat Ghar's repair | | | Early Times Report SUNDERBANI, Mar 5: Succumbing to the pressure of land grabbers, the Rural Development Department (RDD) which wanted to initiate repair work of Panchayat Ghar in village Ainpur of Panchayat Lower Bhajwal couldn't do so. The RDD team couldn't start the repair work of Panchayat Ghar as the land mafia raised certain objections to the plan. It is pertinent to mention here that the RDD had constructed a Panchayat Ghar (CIC Centre) in on Khasra number 355, measuring 2 kanal, which is a custodian land, in 2002 by incurring an amount of Rs 25 lakhs. Sources told that however, a local person, Tara Chand and his son Kuldeep Raj had ill intentions of encroaching that building and land adding that a few months ago in a bid to execute their nefarious designs, the duo encroached a portion of land in front of the Panchayat Ghar and laid foundation of two shops there illegally. Today when the team of the RDD reached the spot with a JCB machine to dismantle the construction, they were not allowed by the land grabbers to initiate the proceedings due to which they had no other option but to leave without doing anything. Sources said that the encroachers demanded to adjust one person of their family in the department in lieu of vacating the illegal land occupation adding that while the department had made an enclosure and did plantation in 25 kanals of land but some other people have also encroached the enclosure. When contacted the Block Development Officer (BDO) Sunderbani, Raman Sharma said the department has approached the Station House Officer, Sunderbani with a request to provide protection to the staff members so that the dismantling of illegal construction and repair work of Panchayat Ghar could be carried out without any hassle. |
