Now Pakistan targets Jammu with war weapons, Raj Bhawan silent!
3/8/2019 11:33:44 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 8: Even as Pakistan has intensified its attacks on the Line of Control (LoC) and international border in Jammu region pushing the people to "undeclared warzone", the Raj Bhawan has been silent on this uncalled for aggression from the enemy country.
Defence sources have said in the last around a week, Pakistan has only intensified attacks on Jammy region using heavy artillery.
Sources said Pakistan used 155 mm artillery guns in the Nowshera sector. There has been a sharp rise in the incidents of ceasefire violations after India carried out air strikes to hit terror camps in Balakot in Pakistan even though Pakistani PM Imran Khan has been pretending to extend to olive branch to India.
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed use of such weapons by Pakistan in Jammu region. "They have introduced heavy calibre weapons", the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement in New Delhi, adding, "Pakistan forces targeted Indian posts and civilian areas with mortar bombs and heavy artillery fire but drew swift and precise response."
Official sources said such heavy artillery is used during wars. "The kind of weaponry Pakistan is using to target Jammu suggests that the people of this region are already living in a warzone," said the official on the condition of anonymity.
The people of Jammu living along the international border and LoC have been living under constant fear.
"Our life has become a hell for the past around a month but the state government is giving a rosy picture, unmindful of what we are bearing unheard," said a delegation of people from Rajauri district.
In a bid to escalate tension along the LoC in Jammu, Pakistan has renewed unprovoked shelling of Indian Army emplacements and villages.
While New Delhi has broken silence on the issue, the Raj Bhawan has been silent.
Observers said the Raj Bhawan should have issued a statement showing concern towards situation along the Jammu border and LoC. "But the fact is that the government is busy to appease Kashmir region," said a retired official on the condition of anonymity.
"Raj Bhawan not keeping reaction to Pakistani hostilities in its priorities only suggests of continued discrimination with Jammu," he added.
Despite repeated attempts the Raj Bhawan authorities couldn't be contacted for comments.
