Amit talks about Innovation in RTO Jammu Review Meeting

Jammu, Mar 8: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary to Government, Transport Department with Additional Charge of J&K Road Safety Council today chaired a Review Meeting on the functioning of the Office of Road Transport Officer Jammu wherein a detailed presentation was made by Dhanentar Singh, RTO Jammu in the presence of officers and officials of Transport Department.
All ARTOs working in Jammu alongwith officials of Jammu RTO Office attended the meeting alongwith Deputy Secretary Raj Mohd from Transport Department.
The meeting began with the introduction of team of officers and officials with Special Secretary Transport Department Amit Sharma which was followed by a detailed presentation by RTO Jammu Dhaneter Singh in which several issues were taken-up. Special Secretary Transport Department appreciated the work of RTO office Jammu which is the controlling officer for nine districts of Jammu division.
He mentioned that it is one of the best times for the officials of department wherein several innovative steps are being planned and executed in the department and it's appropriate time to gear-up for improving and streamlining the working of Motor Vehicle Department. Amit further informed that it is for the first time since 1974 that new posts are being created in the department under the initiative of Principal Secretary Transport Asgar Samoon which was a long pending need for the department.
Apart from this, lot of innovative measures were suggested by Special Secretary Transport Department Amit Sharma like maximum usage of media for dissemination of information to the public, display of LED-boards for information provision, Tatkal-type services for provision of quick services, passage of vehicle registration work to Vehicle Agencies, compulsory hamlet usage for pillion-riders, banning usage of high-beam lights in city driving, automation of internal file movement within RTO office, Digitization of Old Records of Transport Department, Creation of two separate RTO offices in North and South Areas of Jammu to reduce the pressure on a single office in Jammu.
RTO Jammu complimented Special Secretary Amit Sharma for taking this initiative and reviewing the performance of department in RTO Jammu office complex and he requested the administrative department for leading and taking more appraisals of field functionaries in future which was responded affirmatively by the authorities
