Pulse polio immunization program held across Jammu division

JAMMU, Mar 10: The first round of 3-Day campaign Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme was started across Jammu Division under which the children upto the age of 5 years are being administered anti-polio vaccine.
At Doda near about 75000 children below 5 years of age were administered oral polio drops across the district Doda to safeguard them from the crippling disease besides eradicating the menace of polio from the district.
At Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana inaugurated the campaign while Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar Dr. Abdul Majeed, Dy. CMO Kishtwar Dr. Yaqoob besides Doctors and Paramedical staff were also present on the occasion.
At Kathua, Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Klaudia inaugurated the campaign administered polio drops to the children at District Hospital and informed that the department had established 580 booths across the district. Of this, 92 would be in high risk areas of the district.
As many as 14 transit teams with 116 supervisors and 2320 booth members will spearhead this campaign along with 7 mobile teams having 26 members to ensure 100% immunization, DC informed.
At Reasi, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib administered polio drops to kids at the hospital.
At Udhampur, District Development Commissioner Dr. Piyush Singla formally launched the first round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI), campaign 2018-19 and administered a polio drops to a baby at District Hospital Udhampur.
At Samba, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chauhan inaugurated Pulse Polio Programme covering a target of 47873 children under five years of age with setup of 330 booths. At Ramban, Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today inaugurated Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme at District Hospital (DH) Ramban.
CMO, Dr. Safi-u-din Khan, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Bahat, BMOs, and staff members of DH were present on the occasion.
DDC informed that the anti-polio drive was carried out in the district today in which about 65000 children upto 5 years of age were administered polio vaccines.
He further disclosed that 416 vaccination booths have been established across the 4 medical blocks of the district including Gool, Ukhral, Batote and Banihal with a deployment of officials of different departments. Besides, 16 mobile transit teams along with supervisory staff and collaboration of teachers and Anganwadi Workers were engaged for proper execution and monitoring of the immunization process.
Similar drive was also carried out in far-flung and snow bound areas of district like Mahu and Mangit of Banihal block.
