3 `neglected' GDCs of Rajouri without principals
3/14/2019 11:34:32 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 14: The Department Higher Education has recently announced spree of new colleges but existing Colleges (GDCs) in Rajouri district are facing official neglect in terms of manpower and infrastructure.
Sources informed Early Times that few day ago, the Higher Education Department effected transfer of dozens of Principals and Incharge Principals and three Principals of GDC Sunderbani, Kalakote and Budhal were also offered new places of posting in Jammu district, rendering the Rajouri colleges headless.
"With the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, the model code of conduct is in force, so no further transfer can take place. In in absence of head of institutions/ DDOs, who will look after the financial affairs of these institutions?" questioned an official.
A source said that the DDO power of GDC Sunderbani has been given to Principal GDC Nowshera but he is retiring on March 31. "What happens after his retirement? Who will draw the salary of the staff?", he questioned.
"The colleges also suffer for want of infrastructure as well. Functioning from 2008, the colleges are still running from makeshift arrangement. Established in 2008 and 2011, GDC Kalakote and Budhal are running from some rooms of Higher Secondary Schools and one (Sunderbani) runs from an old building of Middle School", said sources.
Narrating the ordeal, an Assistant Professor said that government has failed to provide the required manpower and infrastructure to these colleges. He demanded immediate and appropriate measures.
