3/17/2019 10:43:09 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, Mar 17: Lambasting BJP for its new slogan "Main Bhi Chowkidaar", the former minister and president District Congress Committee, Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said the BJP leadership should feel ashamed for giving such slogans as more than 3000 ceasefire violations have taken place in which approximately 1400 civilians and security personnel have attained martyrdom in the last 5 years.
Sharma said coining such slogans are aimed at only gaining political mileage .While pointing the issue of rehabilitation of cross border firing victims, Dr Sharma said that BJP government promised 5 marlas plot each at safer places for the people residing along LoC & IB but today also people are waiting for the same as promised by the BJP government. He said kith's and kins of those who have died in cross border firing are still waiting for compensation, neither they have been provided the job or 5 marlas plots at safe places by the government. Manohar Lal Sharma further said that the most affected people during the BJP government regime are the farmers. He said costs of seeds and feed has gone high and there is no proper system of procurement but on the contrary farmers are not getting adequate MSP for the crops. He said uncertain weather has damaged crops and the crop insurance is just a mockery of farmer as they have not got a single penny as compensation against the damages. Dr Sharma further requested people to positively participate in upcoming electoral process in the state and ensure victory of congress candidates by voting for them.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader Yuvraj Vikramaditya Singh said that people of District Kathua has suffered most due to the bad governance and anti-people, anti-youth policies of the BJP government. He said youth is feeling dejected and betrayed as no new employment opportunity has been provided to them.
During the function, Kewal Singh Jasrotia (State Gen Secy) BSP also joined Congress and expressed faith in policies and ideology of the party.
Thakur Balbir Singh (MLC), Subash Gupta ( ex-MLC), Girdhari Lal Chalotra (ex-MLA), Prem Lal ( ex-MLA) and Yuvraj Martand Singh also spoke on the occasion.
