Mashroom Mela cum farmers' awareness camp held | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Mar 18: Department of Horticulture Planning & Marketing held Mashroom Mela cum Farmers Awareness Camp at Apni Mandi Tapyal Samba. Apart from Ritu Gupta Sub Divisional Magistrate Gaghwal as chief guest, Shilpa Nagpal Marketing Officer DMI, Prof Anil Bhat SKUAST Jammu, Vivek Shahi Agriculture Technocrat Manager Operations Dawat Rice J&K, Sarpanchs, Panchs, Members of F&VGCM Societies Doura & Tanda Burj and local farmers/ producers of Tapyal, adjoining areas, Supwal and Nud attended the awareness camp. Addressing the gathering Anuj Vermy Assistant Grading & Marketing Officer assured agriculturists, present on the occasion, to provide full support to the them for agricultural produce of Samba district like Mangoes, Citrus, Anola, Mashrooms, vegetables, poultry and dairy products. It was informed that besides setting up Apni Mandi for agriculturists at Tapyal, the department is also in the process of establishing Fruit & Vegetables Satellite Market and Mega Market in Samba district. It was also informed that Apni Mandi is open for all vegetables, fruit growers and even for poultry and dairy products without any charges, commission or any middle man. SDM Gaghwal Ritu Gupta appreciated efforts being put in by the department officers in ameliorating sufferings of agriculturists. She exhorted all agriculturists to take benefit of facility and agricultural marketing infrastructure created by the department at Tapyal. She asked other agencies also to work in close coordination with the Horticulture Marketing department so as to increase returns to the poor agriculturists. Prof Anil Bhat from SKUAST Jammu emphasised that marketing of agricultural produce is equally important now a days as the production. If marketing of produce is not proper than production is not possible. |
