'Darlings' of CEO remain attached; Students suffer in remote areas

Early Times Report

Udhampur, Mar 21: Flattering is fetching teachers with all the blessings of CEO like choice postings while the CEO enjoys all the goodies apart from popular traditional gifts of Udhampur.
In Udhampur District, students in remote areas eagerly keep waiting for teachers in their schools while they manage their postings in CEO office and other offices in the town doing clerical tasks.
Insiders of the education department informed that presently there are 9 teachers (six master grade and three teacher grade) who are attached with CEO Udhampur office for some years while the CEO office already has its own clerical staff. Even clerical staff associations many times met with CEO udhampur seeking implementation of circular no. CEOU/E3/46903-47023 dated 11-2-2019 which directed and taking over the official charge lying with the teachers /masters in district udhampur and handover the charge to clerical staff but present CEO udhampur did not implement the circular for obvious reasons.
"This is a give and take game. The teachers get a posting of their choice in the town and after office hours they also take tuitions while on the other hand they pay back the CEO in many ways apart from monetary benefits," insiders informed.
"Some attached teachers ferry the CEO up and down from his home while others take care of his family's special needs" , sources maintained.
Sources further said that months back the education department had ordered that all the attached teachers should be detached to join their places of posting but the influence worked effectively and nothing happened to these teachers.
Stake holders have appealed to the director of school education and DC Udhampur to look into the matter and undo the wrongs done by the CEO.
