Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 24: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri on Sunday appealed to all main stream political parties to clear their stand regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the Ashok Lavasa Committee in their manifestoes which is likely to be released by these parties shortly for ensuing Lok Sabha polls which is scheduled to be commenced from 11th of April in seven phases. They also assure that once they are voted to power they will ensure that Lavasa Committee recommendations are implemented in Toto in their first cabinet meeting which they will be holding immediately after taking the oath forming government at the centre.
The high-level Lavasa panel submitted its report on pay anomalies to lower class government employees in the Finance Department of Centre Govt. April 2017, adding that delay in accepting the recommendations of the Ashok Lavasa Committee report by the central government has left the employees concerned, Shastri said this while addressing a meeting of NMC workers here. This demand of middle class segment which had earlier been instrumental in voting NDA government to power in 2014 Lok Sabha Election, he added.
He said the Lavasa Committee had proposed a minimum scale pension of lower class employees and pensioners to Rs 21,000. The committee was constituted in the wake of implementation of the seventh pay commission by the central government for removal of pay anomalies in the pay structure of lower class cadre of both the state and the central government, Shastri said, adding that it will be a major issue in the upcoming polls. "The government employees and the pensioners constitute a sizeable voter constituency and this constituency can be a determining factor in the electoral considerations," he said.
He also appealed to the governor's administration in the state to ensure timely disbursement of long pending wages of daily rated workers to facilitate them to celebrate upcoming festivals of Navratras with peace of mind. Shastri urged the administration to set up separate wage heads for regular disbursement of monthly wages of these daily rated workers till their regularization, besides amendment in SRO 520,issuancee of regularization orders of daily rated workers working in Rural Development Department of Jammu region etc.
