CUJ organizes workshop on child protection

JAMMU, Apr 9: The Department of Social Work, Central University of Jammu (CUJ), in collaboration with NSS unit organized a two-day workshop for students volunteers under its United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) funded project "Promoting Volunteerism For Child Protection in J&K" at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, Central University of Jammu. The objective is to generate zeal among the students to act as effective volunteers for child protection. The event was started by an inaugural address by HOD, Social Work Dr. Dharmendra Singh, who welcomed the resource persons, the organizers, and the participants of the event. He thanked Vice Chancellor CUJ, Prof Ashok Aima, for his guidance and support. He also thanked UNICEF for partnering with the Department of social work for such a great cause. The programme witnessed presentations by Manoj Tripathy, Dr Javaid Rashid, Bhat Iqbal, Dr Ranvir Singh, Dr Jeganaathan on various aspects of child protection and volunteerism. The students also involved in activity based learning through case study approaches on various critical situations that emerge in field of child protection. The students were provided volunteer's handbook prepared under this project for their ready reference use.
