JAMMU, Apr 14: Probe, into mysterious death of a noted psychiatrist Dr Pradeep Sankhyadhar ten years ago, was allegedly sabotaged by a police officer.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi should get the case reopened so that deceased doctor gets justice and killers are punished," said an observer.
It may be recalled that when investigations into the alleged murder of Dr Pradeep K Sankhyadhar, a psychiatrist at Satwari hospital, were left half way, sources had alleged that a police officer was behind sabotaging the investigations in the crime that stirred the conscience of the entire Jammu city and the said officer also used his office to secure nod of then District Magistrate Jammu for not conducting autopsy. Dr Sankhyadhar, a psychiatrist at Satwari hospital, was found dead in his clinic-cum-residence in Shivaji Chowk area of Nanak Nagar on March 19, 2009. His body was found in pool of blood and had some deep injury marks, suggesting that he was murdered.
The doctor was very popular among his friends as he was a socialite and a prominent badminton player of the yesteryears. He was also an office bearer of the Jammu district Badminton Association. His death, which many believed was a gruesome murder, shocked the entire city. Following the tragic incident, an FIR was registered at police station Gandhinagar, and the inquest proceedings were started, only to be stalled for mysterious reasons.
"It has been ten years since we lost him in an incident that still gives us nightmares, but we still don't have a clue what happened to him" said one of his friends, seeking fresh inquiry into the case. "We call upon the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Governor's Administration to reopen the case and order fresh investigation so that the truth behind his gruesome killing can be unfolded" he added.
