| Poonch police destroys poppy plants | | |

Poonch, Apr 20: District Police Poonch destroyed illegal cultivation of poppy from a field in village Salwah falling in the jurisdiction of police station Mendhar.
Reports said that a specific information was received that a person namely Mohd Farooq S/o Khadim Hussain caste Sheikh R/o Salwai has cultivated poppy plants in his agricultural land.
On this information, instant case FIR No. 54/2019 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in police station Mendhar and a team of police headed with Executive magistrate Mankote rushed to the spot for investigation and after completing all legal formalities, the illegal cultivation of poppy was destroyed.
The whole operation was carried out under the direct supervision of SSP poonch Ramesh K Angral.
The people of the area has appreciated the role of Police in eradicating the drug. |
