SAC approve honorarium, locals continue to suffer
Maximum Panchayat ghars without Sarpanchs, Panchs
4/25/2019 11:17:06 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Apr 25: Despite approval of monthly honorarium to sapanchs discharge their duties; there are scores of Panchayats where the Panchayat ghars are rarely visited by the newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchs.
They were assured by the Governor of every possible support. He assured that planned development of any area would be done in consensus with the Panches and Sarpnaches of respective Panchyats, and presently that dedication among Sarpanchs and Panchs is missing badly, due to which people are suffering like anything, said sources.
They added that there was need of implementation of new developmental schemes, to check the basic facilities in health institutions; they were assigned the duties to check the proposed works whatsoever in the rural areas, but they are least bothered about that.
They believe that unless and until there is no greater participation of these village heads, the developmental process could not achieve desired results, and the rural populace has no one to look after their problems else and except these Sarpanchs and Panches.
People have every right to take up their problems with elected members of Panchayts, so that they can secure a mechanism for developing the planning process at the district level, but they remain absent or unavailable most of the times.
To compensate Panchs and Sarpanchs, the SAC had approved monthly honorarium as Rs 2500/ for Sarpanchs and Rs 1000/ for Panchs.
