Kathua administration discusses Dengue preventive measures

KATHUA APRIL 27:- District Administration Kathua today discussed the preparedness for prevention of dengue and healthcare measures to stop its outbreak.
Additional District Development Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Shubra Sharma reviewed the preparedness of different departments here at a meeting.
“Co-operation and support of all quarters are crucial to curb the spread of dengue fever,” she said and stressed on the need to spread Public awareness about necessary preventions at their homes.
The ADC instructed MC and Health department to make people aware through IEC activities. Fogging and dewatering be ensured in all the wards of Kathua Municipality so that the spread of Dengue can be prevented, Dr. Shubra maintained.
CMO, Dr. Ashok Choudhary informed the meeting that sufficient number of IGM test kits have been procured well in advance to diagnose Dengue fever anti larval measures will be taken by spraying BTI liquid- in the areas with stagnant water whereas, to stop Mosquito breeding .
District Malaria Officer (DMO), Bal Krishan informed the meeting that teams have been constituted to carry out awareness in schools about the causes and preventive measures of dengue including maintenance of cleanliness in and around habitations, dewatering of coolers, flowerpots, and other water container which can act as a breeding ground for the mosquitoes. He also informed that fogging in few wards of Kathua town has been completed.
The meeting was informed that Mosquito larvae eating Gambusia fish-known as Mosquito fish can be used in ponds and other water bodies to lower mosquito breeding. It was further informed that anti larvae liquid has been poured in the drains of Kathua town as preventive measure.
