Shivani to represent India in a series of international sport climbing competitions

Shivani Charak of Mountaineering Association of J&K, the top ranked woman sport climber of India, has been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the apex body for sport climbing in the country, to represent India in a series of international sport climbing competitions to be held at five different cities of China during the current year.
Whereas the first competition in Lead climbing & Bouldering shall be held at Ningbo, a major port and industrial hub in East China, from 11th to 12th May, 2019, the second competition in Lead & Speed climbing shall be organized from 10th to 11th July,2019 at Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet autonomous region, at an altitude of 12000ft and the 3rd competition from 14th to 15th July,2019 at Delingha, situated at an altitude of 10000ft in northern China. The 4th and 5th competitions in Lead and Speed climbing shall be held at Lanzhou in North West China and Wanxiam mountain, a popular film shooting base and summar resort of China.
Total prize money for all these competitions is 100000 Euros (Rs.78 lakhs approx.) which shall be distributed equally between men and women categories.
Meanwhile, Shivani Charak left today for Delhi for 13 days coaching cum practice at international standard climbing walls in the IMF complex, before her departure for China. A number of young climbers gave her an emotional send off at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu where she has been regularly practicing for the last so many years. All the climbers wished Shivani the best of luck for her competitions in China.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary & Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K; Ajay Deep Singh, top ranked sport climber of the country in Boys category, Abhimanyu Sherpa, a former champion, Reema Devi, Vishali Sharma, Shilpa Charak and Sahil Khajuria.
