Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: Senior police officials in Kishtwar district had to eat a humble pie inside the Kishtwar police station by surrendering before the BJP's former minister and ex-MLA Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Sharma and release all the youths arrested last week for ransacking government property.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Sharma along with eight others including Sanatan Dharam Sabha leaders and courted arrest against the arrest of minority community youths by the police.
Sharma had slammed the police for their failure to arrest the culprits involved in killing of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, his PSO Rajinder Kumar and the Parihar brothers. Sharma and senior leaders of Sanatan Dharam Sabha refused to leave the premises of police station Kishtwar without the release of arrested youths from the custody.
After over 15 hour long stay in the police station, Sharma and other leaders who in the morning courted arrest in presence of Additional SP Kishtwar left the police station at around 12.45 am only after Kishtwar police released all the youths arrested by them in connection with DC office complex violence.
Earlier, an English national daily along with another English daily newspaper of the state quoted SSP Kishtwar Shakti Pathak that Sunil Sharma and president Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar Hans Raj Bhutyal were arrested in connection with FIR No. 82/2019 registered for violence in the DC Office complex. The police had named four persons including two government employees, a BJP women corporator as main accused along with others who vandalized the DC office complex during a protest called by the Santhan Dharma Sabha to protest the killing of RSS leader and his PSO.
The angry protesters besides showing their anger against police and administration had also burned the effigy of Governor Satya Pal Malik.
Meanwhile keeping in view of volatile situation in the district and constant inputs of militants planning more attack in the Kishtwar, extra security forces have arrived for strengthening security grid in the communally sensitive district.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Jammu also rushed to Kishtwar on Sunday and held meetings with the security officials.
