Shakir demands opening of Sinthan pass, making it all weather road | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Apr 30: Prominent political and social activist Shakir Saddiqui today demanded immediate opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road to make this "shortest road connectivity with summer capital Srinagar traffic worthy. Shakir Saddiqui in a press statement issued here today said that connecting Doda ,Ramban and Kishtwar district with the rest of the world by Kishtwar-Sinthan road would ease the life of the people living in this region as the existing National Highway is in worest condition due to frequent landslides. Saddiqui said that due to the hard work of concerned road authorities, the Pir Panchal and Leh has been connected at an earliest with Kashmir but Chenab valley known is still not connected due to the slow work of the administration. He said that this shortest route gives medical assistance in emergency to the whole Chenab and Pir panchal regions as people preferred to shift the patients during summer to Srinagar for treatment due to prevailing cold temperature as compared to other parts of the state. He further added that these regions are deeply related to Kashmir added that majority of the Districts in Jammu Division are socially and emotionally attached with Kashmir. Saddiqui said that Kashmiriyat, as a matter of fact, functioned as not only a social space for inter -community interaction but also as a value that broadened the Hindus' and Muslims' horizon of intercommunity tolerance and co-existence in whole state since 13th century. He said that some miscreants are trying to create wedge between the two regions of the state by issuing contraversal, political and divisive statements which need to be checked. He said that there is immediate need to construct Singpora-Viloo tunnel for all weather connectivity with Kashmir valley. |
