Jandial re-elected president, Vaid gen secy of J&K SKK

Jammu, Apr 30: At the Annual General Meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Samaj Kalyan Kendra held here today, K B Jandial IAS (Retd) was re-elected unanimously as the its President for another 3-year term along with outgoing team.
Er Vijay Bhagotra was re-elected as Sr. Vice President, M L Sharma as Vice President and J K Vaid GSI (Retd) as General Secretary for another three years. Besides, H N Raina and M D Sharma were re-elected as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
P. P. Sharma IFS (Retd) who was appointed as the Election Commissioner conducted the Triennial election and proposed continuation of the existing team as no nomination paper was received for any of the posts.
The NGO was established by Dr. R.R. Khajuria, a well-known Veterinarian of his time, in 1980 to help deaf and dumb children medically and later set up a school for these Divyang students. Now, education including vocational education is being provided to these Specially Abled students from first to twelfth class absolutely free. The School is run on donations including grant-in-aid from the Govt. It has 58 Life Members and about 200 other members.
Jandial after re-election as President, announced with the approval of the AGM appointment of Patron and five Advisors to the NGO. Former President Inderjeet Khajuria was nominated as the Patron while S. S. Wazir IPS (Retd), P.P. Sharma IFS (Retd), Prem Gupta IPS (Retd), B. K. Raina GSI (Retd) and M L Kachroo GSI (Retd) were nominated as Advisors.
Earlier, Jandial gave a brief account of the achievements of the past three years and said that cent percent result in all the three Board Examinations during the last two years, renovation and decent facelift to class rooms and entire building, creation of a Recreational Room and introduction of SMART Class for the Students, registration of the NGO for DDRS grants from Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment are among the major achievements of the outgoing team. The renovation of the School was got done from the Govt at a cost of Rs 34 lakh. Besides, Home Science Laboratory has been established in the School. These Divyang students have also brought laurels to the State by winning National Judo championship. As a new initiative, the SKK now awards cash prizes to the meritorious students in academics & Sports. The teaching faculty and the staff have also been recently given revised pay scales.
Among the pending work include allotment of alternate land from JDA for raising its own building in lieu of the disputed title of the earlier allotted land, making recreational room fully functional and evolving mechanism of placement of passed out Divyang.
General Secretary Vaid gave a brief account of the NGO, and impressed upon all to work with missionary zeal to help the needy and Divyang in the society as service to them is the motto of the Samaj Kalyan Kendra which has grown manifold and excelled in all fields over the year.
