Paper leak: KU exam section under scanner
5/11/2019 11:34:33 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 11: The examination department of Kashmir University has once again come under scanner for its failure to maintain the sanctity of the exams conducted in colleges. On May 8, the question paper of English, BG second semester was leaked-17 hours ahead of scheduled time.
The students told a local news agency that the 'A' series of the English paper was shared on WhatsApp on the evening of May 8 while as the exam for the subject was scheduled on May 9 at 3pm. "We couldn't believe it earlier but after we appeared in exams, we were distributed the same question paper which was shared on social media," said a group of students from Kulgam.
Principal Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam has also confirmed that the paper was leaked before the scheduled time of exams. "I don't remember the series, but the question paper was leaked before the scheduled timing of the exam. We had informed the Controller Examination department of Kashmir University," he said.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Kashmir University postponed Environmental science paper on Saturday, taking students on surprise. The announcement to postpone the exams was made just half an hour ahead of exams. Sources in KU said the exam was postponed after rumours spread that the paper was postponed as well. Controller Examinations, Kashmir University (KU), Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir said the university won't remain silent over paper leak issues. "We will investigate it. The erring officials will be put to task," he said. He however said the question paper of environmental science was not leaked.
The varsity's examination department is in news from past many years for its failure to maintain the sanctity of exams. Earlier, varsity had to face criticism for sending question papers to exam centres over WhatsApp.
