5/13/2019 11:44:35 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 13: Appreciating the decision of Governor's administration in setting up of Fact Finding Committees to probe irregularities and scams in various government departments, social activist Tarun Uppal said that there is dire need to empower the anti-graft bodies in J&K which can fulfil the target of forming such committees otherwise in the past when such probes were ordered, ultimately noting came out. In a statement issued here today, Uppal said that it's unfortunate that till date several committees were constituted but nothing has been done due to the height of corruption in J&K. "The people of J&K are expecting that this time the probe ordered by the Governor is taken to its logical conclusion and those who are found guilty should be punished. There is a need of thorough probe as there were reports of irregularities. The fatal disease of corruption, bribery, nepotism and cronyism has plagued virtually most of the institutions," he asserted. "Corruption is an issue that adversely affects economy of central, state and local government agencies. Not only has it held the economy back from reaching new heights, but rampant corruption has stunted the country's development," he said. Uppal emphasized that here is dire to take strict action against the officials involved in corrupt practices. "There is a perception among people that from recruitment to transfers and from allotting government works to providing basic amenities, everything is on sale. People want action on ground as there is need for immediate treatment to get rid of corruption and nepotism," he added. He said that due to corruption everyone is suffering in J&K whether it is youth or the elders.
