'Hua-toh-Hua' remark - unacceptable | | Omkar Dattatray | 5/17/2019 10:56:39 PM |
| When the general election 2019 is on its last leg, Sam Pitroda of Congress gave an insensitive statement regarding the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 which is unacceptable and condemnable. Rahul Gandhi Congress President and Congress leader Captain Amrinder Singh have rightly condemned the controversial and insensitive remark of Pitroda. Even though Sam Pitroda later apologized for his remarks but this could not quieten the politicians belonging to BJP and others. At the outset it should be noted that the uncalled for remarks over anti-Sikh riots of 1984 are unacceptable and should not be trivialized anymore. Sam Pitroda the congress leader, mentor and political guru of Rahul Gandhi and his close confident is in the news for his controversial, unwarranted and uncalled for remark on the unfortunate anti-Sikh riots of 1984. His remark of hua toh hua on the massacre of Sikhs in the aftermath of the unfortunate killing of the iron lady and the then Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indra Gandhi is unacceptable and has rightly been condemned by all right thinking people. The remark smacks of communalism and is the anti-thesis of secularism being the assault on secularism and the inclusive culture of India and hence is unacceptable and condemnable. It negates the very essence Indian nation that is cultural synthesis and inclusiveness. Petroda the congress's overseas Chief has stirred an avoidable controversy when on Thursday he is reported to have said hua toh hua (so what it happened) in response to a question on anti-Sikh riots of 1984 by a news man in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. But under fire from all quarters he said that his remark was quoted out of context and that his statement was completely twisted. For good congress was quick to disassociate itself from Sam Pitroda statement and said that it disapproves of the remarks made by Pitroda and any other similar remarks which are against the philosophy of Congress. However, Pitroda later apologized for his remarks but he earlier said we had other issues to discuss meaning thereby that we should discuss the five year achievements of Modi rule. He further said that my remarks have been blown out of proportion. In fact, it is very unfortunate what Sam Pitroda a senior leader of Congress said in connection with 1984 anti-Sikh riots that what happened so what. It has become the mentality of the once grand old party of the country-Congress. Rightly training the guns on Congress leader Sam Pitroda over his "hua toh hua" comment on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the BJP Chief Amit Shah said the remark was an attack on the secular ethos. Sam Pitroda also said, "Ap ne kya kiya, paanch saal mein uski baath kareiye 1984 mai hua toh hua". The height is that Sam Pitroda said that BJP is twisting my words to hide their failures. In response to BJP's claim that instructions to kill in 1984 had come from the office of the then PM Rajiv Gandhi, Pitroda said it is another lie of the BJP. PM Narinder Modi has rightly slammed the comment and said the remark showed the character and mentality of Congress. The Congress issued a statement saying that Pitroda's remark is not the opinion of the party and advised all its leaders to be careful and sensitive. But one thing should be noted that Pitroda's remarks bear similarity to the alleged remarks of the then PM of India, Rajiv Gandhi in the aftermath of 1984 Sikh riots who is alleged to have said, "when a big tree falls, the earths shakes." Thus, the once secular party has now turned into an insensitive and communal party over the years and this is amply manifested by the remarks of congress leader Pitroda. The remarks of Sam Pitroda will have adverse effect upon the poll prospects of the party and as such Congress has rightly distanced itself from Pitroda's ramarks and said that congress stood for giving punishment to those who were involved in 1984 anti Sikh riots. BJP is right in demanding that Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi should apologize to public for Pitroda remarks and sack him from the party and that could be damage control exercise but then will Congress sack Sam Pitroda is a million dollar question. Pitroda was very close to former PM Late Rajiv Gandhi and he is political guru of Rahul Gandhi and hence he is unlikely to be removed from Congress. PM Narinder Modi said that for congress human life has no value and a human being is not a human being. In fact, the killing of the then PM Indra Gandhi in 1984 and the subsequent anti-sikh riots both are condemnable and should not have taken place. No politics should be done on the 1984 sikh riots and the unfortunate killing of Smt. Indra Gandhi. PM Narinder Modi rightly said that the three words hua toh hua reflect the character, mentality and intensions of the congress. These words show the arrogance of Congress. 1984 violence was a needless tragedy said PM Narinder Modi. Pitroda was out of line says Rahul Gandhi. Indian overseas congress chairman Sam Pitroda apologized for his purported remark on 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Pitroda said his remark was misrepresented and blown out of proportions. PM said Sam Pitroda's remarks on 1984 anti sikh riots showed arrogance of congress and is thus condemnable. In fact, it was Rahul Gandhi who asked Sam Pitroda to apologize. Under attack from various quarters Sam Pitroda apologizes for 1984 remark, says he meant move on. Sam Pitroda says that his comment was misrepresented and blown out of context. He apologized shortly after congress distanced itself from his comments. Rahul Gandhi said we advised all our leaders to be careful. Attacked by BJP and warned by Congress, Sam Pitroda on Friday apologized for his hua toh hua remarks over 1984 anti Sikh riots. In facebook post, Rahul Gandhi said 'I think what Sam Pitroda ji said is completely out of line and he should apologize for it.' Rahul Gandhi also said that 1984 anti-Sikh riots was a needless tragedy which caused tremendous pain. He further said justice has to be done. The congress chief also asserted that the people responsible for 1984 riots have to be punished. He further said that the former PM Manmohan Singh has apologized, my mother Sonia Gandhi has apologized. We all have made our position clear in the matter that 1984 was a terrible tragedy and should not have happened. Earlier Sam Pitroda said that he meant Jo hua who bura hua but ended saying hua toh. He apologized for 1984 remarks and says his Hindi is not good. In nutshell the purported remark of Sam Pitroda is unfortunate, condemnable and unacceptable. |
