Early Times Report
rajouri, May 18: Block Development Office Sunderbani of district Rajouri has allegedly embezzled Rs 3.06 lakhs released by District Panchayat Officer for panchayat elections held last year.
Sources told Early Times that the Panchayat Elections Officer had released Rs 3.06 lakhs for Sunderbani Block for spending the amount for creating awareness of panchayat elections 2017-18 by holding gram sabhas before Panchayat elections.
"There are 17 panchayats under Block Sunderbani and it was directed by the Panchayat Election Officer Rajouri in its order No. 15 DPO of 2017 dated 13-11-2017 to further release Rs 18,000 to Village Level Workers for each Panchayat in their account," they said.
They said that the Block Development Officer along with Account Officer misused the funds and didn't release the amount in favour of VLWs and it has been learnt that the office purchased a Photostat machine and rest of the amount was misappropriated by them.
