Strange! After 5 years BJP remembers Kashmir issue is a myth
5/18/2019 11:30:28 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 18: As the general elections in the country are coming to an end, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have started claiming that Kashmir is no issue and it's just a myth created by Congress and National Conference.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It's unfortunate that BJP has remembered that Kashmir issue is a myth at the fag end of its tenure. The party could have shattered this myth during the past five years but it's leaders didn't find time."
He said, "BJP leaders are politicizing Kashmir to derive the political mileage."
A Kashmir watcher said that since the day election campaign has commenced, the BJP leaders have been talking about Kashmir and Pakistan only. "It seems the BJP's progress report on the other fronts like generating employment and development has been zero. During the past two months the BJP leaders have been talking about airstrikes and they tightening noose around anti-national elements in Kashmir. Someone needs to tell them that the airstrikes were carried by the Indian Air Force jets and it's the security forces, who are fighting the Pakistan sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir for the past thirty years," he added.
A politician said that the BJP leaders should have highlighted their achievements rather than just beating round the bush. "Now only a few days are left for the results of the Lok Sabha elections to be announced. No one knows who would form the next government at the Centre as the media houses are strictly following the direction of the Election Commission of India and are not conducting any exit polls."
Another analyst said, "If BJP gets another term at the Centre it should ensure that it fulfills the promises which it has been making to people for the past so many years. Soon after taking over the reins of the country in 2014, BJP joined hands with the Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir to grab the power. Just few months before the Lok Sabha elections, BJP realised that PDP is a party with separatist leanings and pulled out from the government. But it took nearly three and a half years for BJP to realize that PDP cannot be trusted. When PDP and BJP were sharing power in the state the BJP leaders danced to the tunes of the PDP leadership and even announced unilateral ceasefire in the holy month of Ramadan in 2018. The BJP led government appointed Dineshwar Sharma as its special representative to hold talks with the separatists. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh offered unconditional dialogue to separatists. If BJP believed that Kashmir was a non-issue it could have easily avoided these gestures but the saffron party left no stone unturned to appease the Kashmir centric leaders."
