5/24/2019 11:25:06 PM
Early Times Report

Doda, May 24: Despite providing poles in rural areas, PDD hangs wires on green trees for electric supply in Marmat tehsil of Doda district, just 40 kilometers from Doda headquarter pose a serious threat to the local residents of the area.
Speaking to Early Times, locals of this tehsil said that, dozens of villages are without poles as both high and low voltage electric wires are hanging from trees in every places like Labbar, Moothi, Mangota, Salhota, Mandol, Gadhori and many other places which posing serious threat to the residents especially for children while playing in the area. They said most the wires are connected with wooden poles installed in the area decades ago were damaged and instead of installing new iron poles, PDD officials chose to hang wires on tress. It clearly shows the callous attitude of PDD and administration. They alleged that, PDD putting the lives of residents in danger by not aligning the wires on the electric poles.
Locals said, we have approached the authorities many times but no action has been taken to this day.
A local human rights defender has appealed the DC Doda and the PDD authorities to provide iron poles as soon as possible.
