| Macadam Plants in Rajouri running in violation of norms | | Truck between owners, PCB alleged | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 18: Some influential businessmen have been allegedly running Wet Mix Macadam Plants in tehsil Kalakote and Nowshera of district Rajouri without proper permission of Pollution Control Board causing serious damage to fragile environment.
Sources told Early Times that many plants had come up in violation of Supreme Court guidelines as the pollution level has been increasing in the area thus endangering human life besides flora and fauna.
"Around 2-3 plants have no pollution certificates but are functioning in connivance with the officials of Pollution Control Board without caring about the people living nearby them," they said.
The locals alleged that many complaints were registered with the Pollution Control Board regarding illegal wet mix macadam plants but no action was taken resulting these plants have been creating pollution unabatedly causing health hazard to the locals.
They appealed to the Anti Corruption Bureau Chief to lodge FIR against such illegal plants and action against the PCB officials who have been encouraging such illegal activities for their personal benefits. |
