Media XI defeats JKP XI in cliffhanger
6/23/2019 11:36:06 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 23: All round performance by Rahul Khatri in a high octane clash helped Media XI maintain their winning streak over the J&K Police XI in a T-20 cricket match played at GGM Science Hostel Ground, here today.
Earlier, J&K Police XI led by SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh after winning the toss elected to bat first and managed to post a challenging 175 runs on scoreboard before getting all out in the last over of the innings. Sunil (38 runs), Khyati (38 runs) and Tejinder (25) played with utter flamboyance as JKP XI was headed to a mammoth total but brilliant bowling by Media XI, kept on taking wickets on crunch moments and restricted JKP XI on 175. For Media XI, Rahul Khatri bowled splendidly and remained the wrecker in chief with (4/22 in 4 overs). Yash Khajuria also scalped 2/16, while Dev, Pankaj & Sunil shared wicket apiece. In their run chase, Media XI batters though started well with Amit Kumar (18 runs) and Sachin Singh (38 runs) adding 49 runs for the first wicket. Breaking the partnership Media XI suffered a minor batting collapse as its middle order once failed to spend time on crease and kept on losing wickets in regular interval. Sunil (25 runs) maintained asking rate but got dismissed in pursuit to accelerate the run rate hit for a six but was caught at the boundary. With 48 runs needed from 24 balls, it was required some big hitting, that came from Dev Thakur (19) and Rahul Khatri (14) and hit a last ball boundary to defeat JKP Xi by 6 wickets. Rahul Khatri (4 wickets and 14 runs) was also declared as the player of the match for his match winning all round performance.
