Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort: A victim of BJP, Cong politics | Dilapidated roads irk residents | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 30: Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort is a classic example of political victimisation, where residents are just votes for political parties and nothing else. False promises, dilapidated roads and lack of other basic amenities are common things of this place. Residents of the Qasim Nagar informed Munish Gupta, Editor Early Times who is on his mass contact programme for upcoming Assembly election from in Gandhi Nagar constituency. He heard their problems and informed them about his vision and assured them to mitigate their problems once elected as an independent candidate. "The roads in Qasim Nagar are totally broken and never been black topped, PHE supply is very poor, erratic power supply has made our life hell in this area. At some places the roads were dug up for drainage system but never repaired, the PDD power cables are worn out and never replaced. Drains are blocked which are never cleaned by the concerned authority," said Ravi Moman, Meenu Jamwal, Rama Kumari, Raju, Nazakat Choudhary, Mohammad Ramzan, Deepak, Rajinder Kumar, Lalit Kumar, the local residents. Kewal Krishan said that that the Community Hall, which was the prime requirement of the area, has not been completed as the work was left midway which was started in Congress Government but BJP government didn't bother to complete it despite number of representation to the local MLA Kavinder Gupta. Sunil Kumar, who is handicapped, said "I am handicapped from one leg and had no job for sustenance. I had applied for BPL ration card but department didn't help me even though i met to BJP leader Kavinder Gupta but nothing happened" Pardeep Kumarr said that he has been living here for the last 28 years but some congress leaders in the area, got thrown his family out from the plot allotted to him and later it was given to some Congress loyalist. "They used police to get vacate the plot our furniture was also thrown out of the house which is still lying here on the road," he alleged. Raj Rani, an elderly woman, who is working as peon in Government High School Qasim Nagar on casual basis demanded her regularization. "I have been working in the school for the last 30 years as peon till i have not been regularized. Now i am close to 60 years and i demand that my son should be given job in place of her," she said. Sumitra, who is leader of Boria Community in Qasim Nagar said that PHE water supply is very poor. "We had to get water from tankers by paying Rs 1200. There is another major issue in this area is drugs abuse. Youth are addicted to drug we talked to the police but nothing happened," she said further adding that the road are so bad that auto rikshaw refuse to enter in this area. "It has been 20 years of my marriage but water crisis remained same. The PHE water supply come one or time week that too very little and the supply which comes is totally contaminated. My school going children fetch water every day from other area," said Pinki Devi and Atro. Pension to elderly people and to widows had remained unaddressed issue in Qasim Nagar. "We are very poor and my husband is not well. No pension benefit and Ayushman scheme has been given to us despite several request," said Maya Devi, who is 70 years old. Koushlya Devi had also the similar problem. There were number of residents who have not been enrolled in voter list and some residents alleged that their votes been struck off by some local leaders. "We have applied for enrolment in voter list but every times we are replied that their application forms have been lost," said Nish Kumari, Kala Ram. Jyoti Arora, a young girl had lot resentment against political parties, who alleged that they never turn up after elections. "There are six members in our family, who have not been enrolled in voter list. We applied five times but every time our application was rejected on one pretext or other," she said.
Drug menace has engulfed entire Qasim Nagar, police failed to curb on it: Yash Pal Sambyal Early Times Report Jammu, June 30: President Mohalla Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort Yal Pal Sambyal expressed serious concern over the increasing drug menace in his area and alleged that police administration has failed to curb this menace. While talking to Early Times, Yal Pal Sambyal said that he has been living here for the last 30 years. "The Qasim Nagar has seen very ups and down in last three decades. The area was developed by the Congress leaders of the State but now area is engulfed in drug menace. There are bad elements in the nearby area of Rajiv Nagar from where this drug business is being run. All those who are involved in this business are from other states and spreading this menace among the youth," he said. He further said that they contacted the senior police officers in this connection, but nothing has been done to weed out this nuisance. "Recently a deputation of 30-40 residents of the area called on IG Jammu and informed him of the problem, who assured to handle the issue but police could not curb these drug peddlers," he said. Meanwhile, criticising the BJP for ignoring this area, Yash Pal Sambyal said "BJP had been the worst party, State has seen, it failed on all development fronts. The local MLA Kavinder Gupta never paid heed to the problems of Qasim Nagar. Even not a single penny has been spent by him till date. Not only Qasim Nagar even the neighbouring areas has been looked after" He said that the previous MLA Raman Bhall carried out some developmental work in the area but ever since he was defeated, no development work has been done the BJP leader Kavinder Gupta. "BJP candidates could win assembly elections only because of Modi, otherwise they have no merit to get elected on their own," he said further adding that whosoever will resolve issues including road, water, sanitation, power, the entire area will cast their votes in favour of that candidates. |
