Kashmir: No stone pelting, no shutdown calls, no Azadi | Pak stooges cornered, henchmen left jobless as money stops flowing | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 30: The Government of India tightening its noose around the Pak-stooges in Kashmir has led to the decline in stone pelting incidents as well as the street protests. Earlier this week the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for protests after Friday prayers but no one paid any heed to the call given by him and people carried on with their daily chores without any disruption. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The so-called Hurriyat leaders, who are cooling their heels in different jails, have admitted during the investigations and questioning that they received huge amounts from across the Line of Control (LoC) to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir. They have also admitted that they used to pay their henchmen for pelting stones and enforcing shutdowns in the Valley. The so-called leaders who used to tell people of Kashmir that so-called Azadi is knocking at their door are today begging to get Azadi from jails." A Kashmir watcher said, "The decision of the Central government to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and JKLF has led to the trouble mongers being kept at bay. Activists of both these organisations, who used to get fixed monthly salary, have been rendered jobless and they are doing menial jobs to make their ends meet." He said, "Separatists didn't call for shutdown when the Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Kashmir last week due to many reasons. Hurriyat hawk Geelani and Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz are already under pressure to disclose how they have amassed so much wealth as they have no known sources of income. Another factor which stopped them for calling for a shutdown was that they are desperate and want New Delhi to talk to them." An observer said, "The developments which have taken place during the past few months have proven it beyond doubt that people of Kashmir are least interested in the separatist and hartal politics. They have in fact heaved a sigh of relief after getting rid of the separatists, who used to call for frequent shutdowns and street protests. Kashmir is changing fast as the fringe elements, who were creating disturbances have been shown their right place." He said that soon after the GoI imposed ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and JKLF, mainstream leaders took to the streets and staged protest against the decision. "They were the same Kashmir centric leaders, who during their tenure provided a long rope to Pak stooges to create disturbance in the Valley. Today these leaders are desperate for elections but someone needs to remind them of the tantrums they threw when elections for Panchayats and local bodies were held and they boycotted these polls," the observer added. |
