Doda, July 1: A report on 29 June was published in the Early Times about some students working as labourers in the school premises. But authorities instead of taking action against the teachers involved in violating the CLPR Act 1986, started harassing the journalist who reported the news.
Teachers hailing from various areas of District Doda posted in different schools started harassing the journalist on social media by using abusive language. A teacher Zakir Butt posted on attachment basis at GHSS Jungalwar, Thathri who messaged in a WhatsApp group even suggested the journalist that it is a personal matter of education department and he should avoid to indulge in such matters and tried to justify the child labour as a part of education.
It is not only a matter of GHSS Ghat where the incident took place, school going children in rural areas of entire Chenab valley region are facing the same problem, every day a large number of school children can be seen performing labour work during the school time but authorities have always been in deep slumber, due to which teachers becomes more fearless and keeps forcing the children to do perform labour work.
Various journalists and social activist across the Chenab valley after learning about the harrasment of journalist Abid Hussain Wani by some selfish expressed concern and demanded immediate suspension of teachers.
